BILASPUR, May 1 — Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Pratibha Singh will launch the party’s ‘Samvidhan Bachao’ (Save the Constitution) campaign in Bilaspur on Thursday, followed by a district-level workers’ meeting.
The initiative is part of a broader outreach program aimed at energizing the party’s grassroots cadre ahead of upcoming political challenges.
After Bilaspur, Singh is scheduled to travel to Una on May 2 to conduct a similar programme.
Speaking to reporters, Singh said the events will provide an opportunity to gather feedback from party workers, particularly regarding the selection of candidates for block-level committees.
“We are keen to hear directly from our workers at the ground level before finalizing names,” she said.
It has been nearly six months since the Congress high command dissolved the HPCC structure below the state level, including all block units. Singh indicated that the process to rebuild those units is ongoing.
Regarding the reconstitution of the party’s state and district executive bodies, Singh confirmed that senior All India Congress Committee (AICC) leader and state in-charge Rajni Patil had taken the list of proposed names to New Delhi during her last visit to Himachal, shortly after the Pahalgam terror attack.
Singh also addressed speculation surrounding her future as HPCC president, having recently completed her three-year term in the role.
“I haven’t heard anything about it from party leaders,” she said, responding to questions about a possible change in leadership.
The ‘Samvidhan Bachao’ campaign, a Congress-led initiative, is part of the party’s national effort to rally support for constitutional values amid growing political tensions.
