TARN TARAN, May 16 – Punjab Police on Friday dismantled a major cross-border narcotics operation allegedly controlled by Pakistan’s ISI and coordinated by a UK-based handler, seizing 85 kilograms of heroin in what is being called the state’s largest drug haul of 2025.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the development, stating that the Tarn Taran police apprehended Amarjot Singh, alias Jota Sandhu, a resident of Bhittewad village in Amritsar district. Singh is believed to be the key Indian link in the operation.

“In the biggest drug seizure of 2025, @TarnTaranPolice busts a cross-border, ISI-controlled, Pakistan-based narco-smuggling module operated by UK-based drug handler Lalli and arrests his India-based operative, Amarjot Singh,” Yadav posted on X.

According to police, Singh was responsible for receiving heroin consignments smuggled across the international border and distributing them within Punjab. His home reportedly functioned as a primary storage location for the illicit drug network.

Investigations are ongoing to trace further links in the supply chain, both within India and abroad.
