RCB vs SRH: Sunrisers Defeat RCB by 42 Runs in Big Win

May 24,RCB vs SRH Highlights: Sunrisers Hyderabad beat RCB by 42 runs and registered a big victory. Batting first, Sunrisers scored 231 runs for six wickets in 20 overs with Ishan Kishan’s strong innings. In reply, Phil Salt and Virat Kohli gave the team a brilliant start, but RCB were bowled out for 189 runs in 19.5 overs. RCB have already qualified for the playoffs, but this defeat has dealt a blow to their chances of consolidating their place in the top two.

The defeat of RCB has benefited Punjab Kings in the table and they have moved behind RCB to the second position. The Gujarat team remains at the top with 18 points in 13 matches. Both Punjab and RCB have 17 points each, but Punjab have two matches remaining while RCB have only one match to play in the group stage. The team of Mumbai Indians remains at the fourth position with 16 points in 13 matches.

Kohli-Salt gave a great start

Chasing the target, Kohli and Salt gave RCB a great start. Both these batsmen did not allow Sunrisers to get any success till the powerplay. RCB scored 72 runs without any loss by the end of six overs. Harsh Dubey gave the first blow to RCB by dismissing Virat Kohli. Kohli was batting well and was close to a half-century, but was dismissed after scoring 43 runs with the help of seven fours and a six in 25 balls. Kohli along with Salt added 80 runs for the first wicket.

RCB vs SRH: Salt’s fifty

Despite Kohli’s dismissal, Salt did not let the run rate slow down. RCB batted aggressively while chasing the huge target and crossed the 100-run mark within nine overs. RCB opener Phil Salt completed his half-century in 27 balls. This is Salt’s third fifty this season and the interesting thing is that all three half-centuries have been scored while chasing the target. Meanwhile, Nitish Reddy gave RCB the second blow by dismissing Mayank Agarwal, who was dismissed after scoring 11 runs.

Pat Cummins gave RCB the third blow by dismissing Phil Salt. Salt was dismissed after scoring 62 runs off 32 balls with the help of four fours and five sixes. From here, RCB’s innings faltered and it started losing wickets at regular intervals. RCB had scored 167 runs for three wickets by the end of 15 overs. Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad set a huge target in front of RCB on the basis of Ishan Kishan’s brilliant batting. Ishan scored an unbeaten 94 runs with the help of seven fours and five sixes in 48 balls. RCB won the toss in this match and decided to bowl first, but the opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head gave a quick start and shared a 54-run partnership for the first wicket. Lungi Ngidi broke this partnership by dismissing Abhishek who scored 34 runs off 17 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes.

After this, Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent Travis Head to the pavilion who scored 17 runs off 10 balls with the help of three fours. After this, Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan took charge and made a partnership of 48 runs for the third wicket. This partnership was broken by Suyash Sharma by dismissing Klaasen who scored 24 runs off 13 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes.

After this, Aniket Verma came to support Ishan and he batted stormily. Aniket was dismissed after scoring 26 runs off nine balls with the help of one four and three sixes. Nitish Reddy could not impress in this match and became the victim of Romario Shepherd after scoring four runs. Shepherd then dismissed Abhinav Manohar who returned to the pavilion after scoring 12 runs.
