NEW DELHI/KUWAIT CITY, May 27—With a strong diplomatic endorsement, Kuwait has expressed firm support for India’s stand against terrorism, Member of Parliament Satnam Singh Sandhu said Tuesday, following the conclusion of a two-day official visit by an all-party Indian delegation.

“Kuwait stands firmly with India against terrorism,” said MP Sandhu, who is part of the delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda. “With growing global support, Pakistan is facing diplomatic isolation for its role as a hub of terrorism. Even Gulf nations are united in acknowledging this.”

The delegation, which reached Kuwait on Sunday, held high-level meetings with Deputy Prime Minister Sherida Abdullah Saad Al Maousherji and other senior Kuwaiti leaders. Kuwait marked the second stop in India’s four-nation diplomatic outreach after Bahrain, as New Delhi seeks to strengthen global partnerships on counterterrorism efforts.

“The leadership of Kuwait not only acknowledged the threat terrorism poses to global stability, but also expressed strong solidarity with India’s position,” said Sandhu.

During the visit, the delegation provided detailed briefings to Kuwaiti officials about recent developments, including the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s response through Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror hideouts in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) without harming civilians. Sandhu stressed that India’s zero-tolerance stance was conveyed clearly, along with its long-standing struggle with cross-border terrorism over the past seven decades.

In a second round of meetings, the Indian delegation engaged with Kuwait’s former Prime Ministers and key figures from the Ministries of Finance, Home, and Foreign Affairs, as well as leading media voices.

Sandhu mentioned the diplomatic significance of the Gulf visit:

“It was during Bahrain’s FATF presidency that Pakistan was grey-listed in 2018. We have urged both Bahrain and Kuwait to back India’s push for blacklisting Pakistan again due to its continued support to terror outfits.”

He further noted the critical role of Gulf nations in forums like the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), saying Muslim-majority countries can help prevent Pakistan from misusing religious platforms for violent agendas.

In addition to official meetings, the delegation visited the ‘Rihla-e-Dosti: 250 Years of India-Kuwait Friendship’ exhibition at the National Library. The exhibit, featuring rare manuscripts, artefacts, and historical documents, celebrates centuries of cultural and commercial bonds between the two nations.

“India and Kuwait share an age-old friendship rooted in trust, trade, and tradition,” said Sandhu. “This exhibition beautifully captures our shared legacy.”

The delegation also interacted with members of the Indian diaspora — over one million strong in Kuwait — the largest expatriate community in the country. Sandhu praised their role as a “living bridge” between India and Kuwait, and said their unity and contribution to counterterrorism awareness was visible.

Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kuwait and Bahrain in 2019, Sandhu said Gulf leaders expressed admiration for Modi’s leadership and the strengthening of bilateral ties under his tenure.

“Both nations reaffirmed their trust in PM Modi’s leadership,” Sandhu said. “Our economic ties with Kuwait and Bahrain have reached new heights and continue to grow.”

The Indian delegation’s visit to the Gulf concludes with momentum toward broader global cooperation against terrorism and deeper people-to-people ties across borders.

Purpose of the Delegation’s Visit to Kuwait:

Counterterrorism Diplomacy: The delegation is engaging with Kuwaiti leadership to build consensus and support for India’s position on cross-border terrorism, particularly its concerns regarding Pakistan’s role as a state sponsor of terror. MP Satnam Singh Sandhu stated that Gulf nations, including Kuwait, now “acknowledge Pakistan as the global hub of terrorism.”

High-Level Meetings: The team met with Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister Sherida Abdullah Saad Al Maousherji, former Prime Ministers, and key figures from the Ministries of Finance, Home, and Foreign Affairs, to present India’s case on terrorism and its recent security actions, such as Operation Sindoor in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Strategic Engagement: The visit to Kuwait follows an earlier stop in Bahrain and is part of a four-nation tour aimed at enhancing India’s strategic footprint in the region and isolating Pakistan diplomatically in global forums like the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Diaspora Engagement: The delegation interacted with the Indian community in Kuwait, which is the largest expatriate group in the country, to strengthen people-to-people connections and rally unified support against terrorism.

Cultural Diplomacy: The delegation also visited a special exhibition titled ‘Rihla-e-Dosti: 250 Years of India-Kuwait Friendship’ at the National Library, showcasing the historical and cultural ties between the two countries.
