Amritsar, July 3— Kaka Teghbir Singh, the six-year-old mountaineer who recently scaled Mount Elbrus — the highest peak in Russia and Europe — was today honored with a Guru Bakhshish Siropa and Sri Sahib by the acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj. The ceremony took place at the sacred seat of Sikh authority, recognizing the child’s remarkable accomplishments.

Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Baba Tek Singh, was also present during the felicitation.

Kaka Teghbir Singh summited Mount Elbrus on June 28, 2025, making him one of the youngest mountaineers in the world to achieve the feat. The young adventurer already holds the distinction of being the youngest child to reach Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal in April 2024 at the age of five and the youngest Indian and Asian child to climb Mount Kilimanjaro — Africa’s highest peak — in August 2024.

Jathedar Gargajj praised the child’s dedication and spirit, calling him a source of inspiration not only for the Sikh community but for the entire nation and global youth. “The entire family of Kaka Teghbir Singh is Gursikh. At such a young age, the child has brought honor to the Sikh panth and community across the world,” he said. “I pray for even greater achievements for him in the future and encourage his family to continue supporting his journey,” he added.

Kaka Teghbir Singh’s family — father Sukhinder Deep Singh, mother Dr. Manpreet Kaur, sister Pavitjot Kaur, grandfather Gurcharan Singh, grandmother Narinderjit Kaur, and great-grandmother Bibi Balwinder Kaur — were also honored with Siropas by the Singh Sahibs at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

The ceremony was attended by Secretariat in-charge Bagicha Singh and Assistant in-charge Jasvir Singh Longowal, who extended congratulations to the family and expressed hope for more such milestones from the young mountaineer.

With three major summits already under his belt before turning seven, Kaka Teghbir Singh’s journey has become a beacon of inspiration, proving that age is no barrier when spirit, support, and faith come together.
