Chandigarh, July 6 — A 19-year-old youth from Panchkula was stabbed to death late Friday night in Indira Colony, sending shockwaves through the local community. The victim, identified as Sanjeev, a resident of Rajiv Colony, had reportedly come to the area to visit a friend when he was ambushed and attacked.
According to police sources, the incident occurred around midnight. Sanjeev was allegedly surrounded by three to four assailants, who stabbed him multiple times in the chest and abdomen before fleeing the scene.
Preliminary investigation points to a possible personal dispute, with police probing allegations that Sanjeev had been stalking the sister of one of the accused. The exact motive, however, is still under scrutiny.
Eyewitnesses rushed to inform the Police Control Room after the stabbing. Sanjeev was immediately transported to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, where doctors pronounced him dead.
In a swift response, the Chandigarh Police detained two juveniles in connection with the assault and registered an FIR at the IT Park Police Station. Law enforcement officials are working to establish the full sequence of events and identify any other individuals involved.
“The investigation is ongoing. We are collecting statements from witnesses and analyzing CCTV footage in the area to determine the precise cause of the conflict and whether more suspects were involved,” said a police official.
The brutal nature of the attack has left residents of Indira Colony rattled, with several expressing concern over rising youth violence and public safety.
Sanjeev’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and police say further action will be taken based on forensic findings and evidence gathered during the probe.
