Congress aiding Pak-backed terrorists, says PM Modi

Mangaldoi (Assam), Sept 14 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday accused the Congress of siding with Pakistan-backed terrorists and shielding infiltrators rather than standing with the Indian Army. Speaking at a public meeting in Assam’s Darrang district, he alleged that the opposition party has “protected anti-national forces” at the cost of national security.

“The Congress, instead of supporting the Indian Army, backs terrorists groomed by Pakistan,” Modi said. “During ‘Operation Sindoor’, when our armed forces destroyed terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, Congress was busy defending infiltrators and anti-national forces.”

The prime minister said the military operation succeeded “with the blessings of Ma Kamakhya” and called it a matter of pride to address the people on “this sacred land.”

Turning to Assam’s internal security and land rights, Modi praised Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for evicting illegal settlers from encroached areas. He noted that farmers have now regained their plots. “The BJP will not allow infiltrators to grab land, insult women and girls, or conspire to alter demography. Such acts are a direct threat to national security,” he told the gathering.

Modi also invoked cultural pride, expressing pain over what he described as Congress’s insults to Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika. “The BJP’s double-engine government is committed to realising the dreams of Assam’s great sons like Bhupen Hazarika,” he said.

Criticising Congress’s long tenure in Assam, Modi claimed that the party built only three bridges over the Brahmaputra during decades of rule. “In just 10 years, the BJP-led government has constructed six bridges,” he said, contrasting the record.

The prime minister further underlined Assam’s economic progress, noting that the state’s growth rate has reached 13 percent. “India is emerging as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. This achievement is the result of the double-engine government’s efforts. Assam is being developed as a health hub, and the Northeast has a crucial role in building a ‘Viksit Bharat’,” Modi remarked.
