‘Punjab Is My Family,’ Says Mann

Chandigarh, Sept 19: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday announced that his government will issue health-related statistics every evening at 6 p.m. to provide people with timely and reliable information in the wake of recent floods.

“We have already launched a wide-ranging health safety plan and set up medical camps to prevent the spread of diseases,” Mann said, adding, “The whole of Punjab is my family, and I am always committed to the well-being of my family. That is why health department teams are deployed round the clock in villages and towns.”

According to official figures for September 14, 15, and 16, most of the cases reported were fever and skin infections. During these three days, medical camps were organized in 2,100 villages, where 1,42,395 patients were examined. Out of these, 19,187 patients were treated for fever and 22,118 for skin ailments, while another 14,848 cases involved diarrhoea, cough, and other infections.

So far, the state has set up more than 1,250 relief and health camps, reaching over 1.8 lakh people. Teams have also been stationed at Anganwadi and Aashirwad centres, while ASHA workers are conducting door-to-door surveys to spread awareness about hygiene, safe drinking water, and mosquito protection. “Anyone experiencing fever, skin infection, or other symptoms should immediately visit the government-run medical camps,” the Chief Minister urged.

Officials noted that lakhs of people have already been checked through these outreach efforts. At the same time, AAP volunteers, ministers, MLAs, and office bearers are actively taking part in relief and sanitation drives across villages and towns.

“This is not just the government’s responsibility but also a shared duty of every Punjabi to keep our villages, towns, and neighbourhoods disease-free,” Mann said.

Health authorities have warned that the risk of seasonal illnesses typically rises after floodwaters recede. To mitigate this, the government has placed strict monitoring measures in hospitals, where special isolation wards and round-the-clock doctors have been deployed.

The Chief Minister assured citizens that no one will be left without assistance. “The government is reaching every individual with medical help,” he said, calling on people to contact the nearest health team or camp immediately if they face any problem.
