Moga, October 8: Paramjit Kaur, popularly known by her online moniker “That Girl,” was felicitated by AAP Moga MLA Amandeep Kaur Arora for her achievements in music and digital media. The 19-year-old singer has gained rapid recognition among youth audiences and is being celebrated as an inspiration for young women in Punjab aspiring to transform talent into success.
Param’s viral track That Girl, produced by UK-based Manni Sandhu and directed by Tru Makers, has garnered millions of views online, drawing attention for its empowering message of female independence and self-confidence. Earlier, AAP leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also serves as the party’s Punjab in-charge, shared the song on social media, describing Param as the “new voice of Punjab” and highlighting her “story of struggle.”
Hailing from Dunneke village in Moga district, Param comes from a modest background. Her father, Surjit Singh, works as a daily-wage labourer with local masons, while her mother, Jaspal Kaur, is employed as a domestic help. Param completed her schooling in Moga and is currently pursuing higher education at DM College, Moga, as the second among four siblings.
Param began singing at an early age and started producing short music reels for social media about a year ago. Before her breakthrough with That Girl, she had featured in a song by a well-known singer that was never released. Since her rise to fame, she has focused on developing her singing career while maintaining a low public profile, with her family now speaking on her behalf.
MLA Arora, while felicitating Param, said: “Her journey from a small village to becoming a social media sensation reflects determination, talent, and resilience. She is an example for young women in Punjab to follow their dreams.”
Paramjit Kaur’s recognition by political and cultural figures underlines her growing influence in contemporary Punjabi pop culture, marking her as one of the state’s emerging young artists.
