Chandigarh, Dec 3: Gangster Goldy Brar on Tuesday accused the Lawrence Bishnoi group of betraying and killing Inderpreet Singh, alias Parry, a day after the 32-year-old was shot dead in Sector 26. Brar’s voice message surfaced just as UT police recovered a white Hyundai Creta, believed to have been used in the attack, abandoned near Mansa Devi Complex in Panchkula.
In a sombre audio clip, Brar denied claims that Parry had defected or was extorting on behalf of rival syndicates. Speaking in Punjabi, he said Parry had been “a loyal member since our DAV College days” and accused Lawrence of ordering the hit. “Lawrence called his own friend out and had him killed. This is a new low in friendship,” Brar said, adding that Parry’s family “even sent meals for Lawrence during court dates.”
Parry’s family said they had no indication of any threat. “He left home around 5:30 pm with his wife, dropped her at a salon and went to meet friends. We do not know why he was targeted like that,” his elder brother, an ASI posted in Mohali, said. He added that Parry and Lawrence “had known each other since DAV College.”
Investigators believe an insider sitting in the front passenger seat fired the first shot inside Parry’s vehicle before the assailants in the Creta moved in and fired more rounds. A total of 11 shots were discharged. CCTV footage from Sector 5 shows two men stepping out of the Creta and leaving on a motorcycle.
Police said Parry was seen meeting an unidentified man outside a Sector 26 club shortly before the shooting. Sources said the man allegedly lured him out on the pretext of speaking to Lawrence over the phone, a call that may have been used to confirm the hit.
The Bishnoi gang had posted on Facebook that Parry was killed for siding with Brar or Rohit Godara and for allegedly extorting clubs. Brar rejected the claims as “false.” Police are examining both the Facebook account and Brar’s audio for authenticity.
The Creta, bearing registration PB 10 DN 5333, is registered to a Ludhiana resident. Multiple suspects, including those present at the Kala Ghoda club, have been detained for questioning.
The postmortem was completed at PGIMER on Tuesday, and the family is expected to perform the last rites on Wednesday. Police teams are reviewing digital evidence and footage from over a dozen cameras across Chandigarh and Panchkula to identify the insider and reconstruct Parry’s final movements.
