Chandigarh, Dec 3: Chandigarh and its adjoining towns recorded a sharp contrast between daytime warmth and nighttime chill on Tuesday, with the region logging an almost 18-degree difference, according to the IMD. The city reported a maximum of 24.2°C and a minimum of 6.6°C, continuing a pattern of colder-than-normal nights.
Mohali (22.6°C) and Panchkula (25.1°C) also saw cooler days, while their minimum temperatures stayed in the single digits. The chill in the Tricity was more pronounced than in several parts of Haryana and Punjab, where isolated pockets reported shallow fog and cold wave conditions.
The IMD said the Tricity’s minimum temperature remained 1–4°C below normal, signalling an early-season nip that has set in ahead of winter’s peak.
The weather office has forecast mainly clear to partly cloudy skies over the next five days. Minimum temperatures are expected to hover between 6°C and 8°C, while daytime highs will likely remain steady between 23°C and 25°C, keeping the wide thermal gap intact.
