New Delhi/Chandigarh, Jan 22: The Congress High Command has confirmed that there will be no change in the leadership of the Punjab unit, ending weeks of speculation regarding the party presidency. Following a lengthy three-hour brainstorming session at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi, the party leadership sent a clear message that the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections will be contested with a united front.

All India Congress Committee General Secretary K.C. Venugopal stated that the party will not tolerate any internal factionalism or public displays of dissent. He clarified that leaders have been strictly instructed to refrain from making statements against one another on social media or in the press. The High Command has also discouraged group meetings or collective letters, advising that any leader wishing to raise concerns should do so on an individual basis with the party leadership.

Punjab affairs in-charge Bhupesh Baghel addressed the media after the meeting, reiterating that indiscipline will be met with firm action. He mentioned that the party intends to move forward under the guidance of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. To demonstrate this renewed cohesion, senior Punjab leaders appeared together after the session, joining hands to signal a collective approach toward the state’s political challenges.

The meeting of the Political Affairs Committee was prompted by recent internal friction following discussions regarding representation within the party. Despite various viewpoints shared in recent days, the central leadership has focused on maintaining the current organizational structure to ensure stability. Attendees included Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, and other prominent senior leaders and Members of Parliament.
