Chandigarh, March 3: Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday introduced a series of women-centric initiatives in the Haryana state budget, including the launch of a “Pink Cab” scheme. Under this proposal, the government will provide driving training and interest-free loans of up to ₹10 lakh to women for the purchase of electric vehicles, aiming to bolster both female entrepreneurship and green mobility.
To further support women, the Chief Minister declared a 1 percent rebate in motor vehicle tax for non-transport vehicles registered in their names. He also affirmed that the state’s fleet of women-exclusive buses will be expanded from 273 to 500. Beyond transportation, the budget features a significant 32.89 percent increase in the health outlay, which has been set at ₹14,007.29 crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
A major focus of the healthcare expansion involves mental health and specialized services. Saini asserted that mental health counsellors will be appointed at every Community Health Centre (CHC) to serve both the facilities and local educational institutions. Additionally, the government plans to establish 18 new dialysis centres and six cardiac catheterization (cath) labs across major districts including Hisar, Karnal, and Sonepat.
“The government plans to procure 70 advanced and 167 basic life support ambulances,” Saini affirmed during his address. He also maintained that infrastructure upgrades would see the Faridabad district hospital double its capacity to 400 beds, while institutions in Sonepat and Rewari will be expanded to 300 beds.
