Amritsar, March 7: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will honor Sikh candidates who successfully cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination with a cash award of Rs 1 lakh each. SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami shared the decision on Friday, noting that the organization aims to recognize those selected for high-ranking administrative roles.
Advocate Dhami stated that the achievement in such a rigorous national examination is a testament to the perseverance and commitment of the youth. He affirmed that successful candidates, including Sunwardeep Singh and Simrandeep Kaur, have brought significant pride to the Sikh community and their respective families through their selection.
Among the top performers, Simrandeep Kaur earned the 15th rank across India. She is a former student of Khalsa College in Patiala, an educational institution managed by the SGPC. The president asserted that the cash awards serve as a vital form of encouragement for these scholars as they enter public service.
Looking toward future support for aspirants, the SGPC head declared that a dedicated provision will be included in the upcoming annual budget. This fund is intended to assist needy Gursikh students in their preparation for administrative service exams. Dhami maintained that providing resources for civil service coaching remains a priority for the committee to ensure more representation in the bureaucracy.
