Ludhaina, March 8: Sameera Auluck, a fashion designer and endurance athlete from Ludhiana, has successfully completed the Abbott World Marathon Majors, a feat she finalized this month in Tokyo. By finishing the Tokyo Marathon, Auluck earned the coveted six-star medal, representing completion of the full circuit that includes London, Berlin, Chicago, New York, and Boston.
The accomplishment coincides with International Women’s Day celebrations, during which Auluck shared her experiences as a mother of three teenagers balancing professional work with high-level athletics. She asserted that women are capable of reaching any height they set their sights on, provided they have a strong support system and personal drive.
“After taking a year-long sabbatical from cycling, I discovered running in 2021, which soon became a deep passion,” Auluck said while reflecting on her transition between sports. She maintained that her background in long-distance cycling, including the 1,460-km trek from India Gate to the Gateway of India, provided the endurance foundation necessary for world-class marathon running.
Auluck’s timeline for the World Marathon Majors began in Berlin in September 2023, followed by London, Chicago, and New York in 2024. She completed the Boston Marathon in April 2025 before her final run in Tokyo on March 1, 2026.
The Ludhiana runner has previously secured top honors in several domestic races, including the Tuffman series in Goa and Kasauli. Auluck stated that her success is a testament to the fact that women can maintain a balance between family responsibilities and demanding personal ambitions. She affirmed that showing up every day is the most critical element of any endurance journey.
