Tehran, March 9: The Embassy of India in Tehran released a critical advisory on Monday, cautioning Indian citizens against attempting to cross Iran’s land borders without direct authorization from the mission. The warning comes as an increasing number of Indian nationals, particularly students, have considered using land routes to reach neighboring countries during the current regional crisis.

Embassy officials stated that independent movement toward border points could lead to “serious difficulties,” including the risk of being stranded in no-man’s land. The mission declared that it would be unable to provide aid to individuals who exit Iran but are subsequently denied entry by a neighboring third country.

“Indian nationals are hereby advised not to approach any of the land borders of Iran for travel outside the country without prior coordination with the Embassy,” the advisory affirmed.

The directive follows reports of Kashmiri students in the Urmia region seeking government assistance for evacuation, specifically looking toward nearby Armenia. Authorities asserted that all such movements must be strictly managed and coordinated with official guidance to ensure the safety of travelers.

The embassy maintained that its emergency helplines remain active for those requiring urgent support. Citizens have been urged to stay updated through official channels and to refrain from making independent travel decisions that involve crossing international land boundaries.
