Chandigarh, April 23: Punjab’s security agencies have moved to a state of high alert following a threatening email received by the Railway Department. The communication, sent under the name of the ‘Khalistan National Army,’ warns of planned explosions targeting major railway stations and educational institutions across the state this coming Friday.

The threat specifically names the railway infrastructure in Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bathinda, and Ferozepur as primary targets. According to the email, these actions are timed to coincide with a scheduled ‘blackout mock drill’ on April 24. Beyond the transit hubs, the message cautioned parents against sending their children to schools, asserting that educational centers would also be targeted. The authors of the email stated that they have no enmity with children but intend to use these threats to make their voices heard by the government.

In response, the railway police have cancelled all staff leaves and ordered personnel to remain on active duty. Security teams have taken over station fronts, implementing rigorous search protocols for all commuters and visitors. A senior official maintained that the administration is taking every precaution to ensure public safety and that security at all vulnerable points has been significantly increased.

The Cyber Cell has initiated a technical investigation to trace the digital origin of the email and identify those responsible. Authorities affirmed that while the public should remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the 112 helpline, there is no need for panic. Police stated that the coordinated effort between various security wings is focused on maintaining the state’s law and order during this period.
