GURUGRAM, MAY 30 — Two alleged sharpshooters belonging to the notorious Himanshu Bhau gang were arrested late Friday night following a brief armed encounter with law enforcement personnel on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway.
The suspects, who sustained bullet wounds to their legs during the crossfire, were taken into custody and subsequently moved to a regional medical facility under police guard. According to Gurugram police officials, a specialized team from the Sector 40 Crime Branch initiated the operation after receiving an intelligence tip-off that two armed operatives were surveying the Manesar industrial corridor on an unregistered motorcycle to execute a high-profile criminal assignment.
“The suspects were spotted near Saharwan village, where a chase ensued,” a senior police officer stated, explaining that tactical units immediately established strategic barricades along the highway once the tip-off was verified.
The situation turned violent when the fleeing riders realized they were being pursued by police vehicles. The suspects drew firearms and discharged multiple rounds at the tactical team, with three projectiles striking an official police vehicle. No law enforcement personnel were injured during the exchange.
Investigators stated that both sides exchanged between 10 and 15 rounds of ammunition during the highway confrontation. The retaliatory fire from the Crime Branch units brought down both suspects on the roadway, allowing officers to safely disarm and apprehend them.
The police identified the arrested individuals as Karan, also known as Ronnie, and Pravesh, both residents of Kanjhawala village located in outer Delhi. Law enforcement personnel recovered a black motorcycle and a handgun from the scene of the shootout.
“Both accused have 10 criminal cases registered against them, including murder, attempted to murder and robbery,” the senior officer stated, noting that preliminary checks also link the duo to a separate shooting incident reported recently in the Mundka region of Delhi.
