Kaithal, June 9: An anti-narcotics unit in Kaithal has apprehended a regional narcotics supplier from Ferozepur following a widening investigation into a high-volume heroin interception along state border transit lines. The cross-border enforcement operation resulted in the detention of Gurmel Singh, a resident of Gamawala village in Punjab, and the seizure of illicit cash resources linked to the distribution network.
The regional enforcement sequence began on June 4 when a tracking team led by Assistant Sub Inspector Raghubir Singh acted on a confidential intelligence tip. Officers established an emergency highway checkpoint connecting Dera Bhagat Singh and Khushhal Majra under the Guhla police station command, intercepting a suspicious vehicle containing three individuals.
During the initial roadside search, officers discovered 100.05 grams of heroin inside the cabin, prompting the immediate arrests of Ajay, Sintu, and Satish, all residents of Cheeka.
“During questioning and subsequent inquiry, it was revealed that the seized heroin had allegedly been supplied by Gurmel Singh,” a department spokesperson stated, describing the subsequent phase of the multi-jurisdictional drug inquiry.
Following the directives of Kaithal Superintendent of Police Manpreet Singh Sudan, a specialized CIA-1 unit headed by Sub-Inspector Jaswant Singh moved into Punjab to track the primary supplier. The team successfully located Singh, recovering ₹10,000 in direct drug profits from his person during the raid.
A Kaithal court magistrate approved a formal request to place the primary supplier into judicial custody while processing continues. Investigative supervisors noted that tactical interrogation of the four linked suspects will continue to map the broader distribution ring operating between Punjab and Haryana.
