Chandigarh, June 19:The Punjab Police has successfully disrupted the infrastructure of organized crime groups and interstate smuggling cartels by expanding its operational cooperation with law enforcement agencies nationwide. Through the ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, which recently concluded its 148th day of operations, the state police force has apprehended 37,757 individuals and arrested 68,682 drug traffickers by dismantling cross-border logistical networks.
By prioritizing intelligence-sharing and launching joint enforcement operations, the strategy directly addresses the modern criminal tactic of orchestrating illegal activities across state boundaries to evade local law enforcement. Top officials stated that the state will continue to work closely with neighboring police forces to ensure that geographical borders can no longer be exploited by criminals seeking to evade justice.
Detailing the impact of the ongoing anti-crime drive, Punjab Police Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that jurisdiction will not limit state law enforcement.
“We are very clear in our motto— criminals cannot just escape after committing crimes here. The Punjab Police will track them down anywhere, and will ensure justice to the victims,” the DGP declared.
He maintained that the high volume of arrests reflects the absolute dedication of the police force toward creating a safer environment.
The joint policing strategy has led to several notable security achievements, including the neutralization of an espionage network linked to Babbar Khalsa International during a joint operation in Delhi. Additionally, collaborative operations have successfully dismantled cross-border drone smuggling rings in coordination with the Uttarakhand Special Task Force, and recovered high-grade weaponry in Amritsar alongside the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Authorities affirmed that these joint operations send a clear message that individuals threatening regional peace will find no safe refuge anywhere in the country.
