Faridkot, June 26: The Counter Intelligence wing and the Crime Investigation Agency staff of the Faridkot Police have arrested a married couple for their alleged involvement in cross-border and local narcotics trafficking. The apprehension occurred during a routine highway patrolling operation along a link road.

The suspects have been identified as Balwinder Singh, also known as Binder, and his wife, Sarbjit Kaur. While both individuals are residents of the Jind district in Haryana, law enforcement officials stated that they had established an active distribution network for illicit drugs across the border districts of Punjab.

A check into their background showed that Balwinder Singh has a history of similar offenses. “He already faces two prior criminal cases related to drug smuggling under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,” an investigating officer affirmed regarding the suspect’s criminal record.

The Kotkapura Sadar Police have registered a fresh case against the husband and wife under the NDPS Act. Police officials maintained that formal custody has been granted by the court, allowing investigators to interrogate the pair to map out their backward supply linkages and trace the local recipients of the contraband.
