NEW DELHI, July 29— Actor and Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha MP Kangana Ranaut sparked sharp political criticism following derogatory comments directed at youth participating in recent demonstrations at Jantar Mantar. In a series of social media posts, the parliamentarian condemned the language and digital content surrounding the agitation, labeling the participants “Generation Gutter”.
The parliamentarian’s statements questioned the upbringing and lifestyle choices of the young protesters, specifically targeting female participants.
“Never in my life have I seen so much ugliness in one place,” Kangana Ranaut stated. “These reels from Gen Z protests are puke-inducing. The way they speak and the kind of language they are using… never in my life have I seen everything in each and every frame so jarring and so crass all at once.”
Kangana Ranaut further criticized female demonstrators, asserting that they flaunt reckless freedom while depending on family earnings.
“I call them Generation Gutter,” Kangana Ranaut declared. “Some of them have nothing to offer to the system. They are not good at studies. They are so ugly and corrupt that they can’t even be homemakers.”
Opposition figures reacted swiftly to the MP’s remarks, condemning the tone used against student demonstrators. Congress leader Bhai Jagtap expressed dismay over the comments given recent police actions during the protests, while All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Waris Pathan called for an apology to the country’s youth and urged top party leadership to address the conduct.
