CHANDIGARH, AUGUST 18: An unconventional philanthropic initiative expanding the traditional concept of community service beyond food distribution was organized across select fuel stations in Chandigarh. The public drive, referred to as a “petrol langar,” offered free fuel coupons to residents at designated outlets in Sector 7 and Sector 10.
“People can avail themselves of fuel coupons worth Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 at designated petrol pumps in Chandigarh,” organizer Rakesh Trehan stated while detailing the drive.
Trehan, an Amritsar-based businessman popularly known as “Raja Di King,” organized the distribution to assist members of the public with daily living costs. The organizer stated that his philanthropic activities are sustained by earnings from digital assets alongside his family’s established business background.
“My philanthropic initiatives are funded partly through profits from Bitcoin trading,” Trehan stated, adding that he allocates a portion of his cryptocurrency returns toward social service projects.
The drive follows a previous community effort in Sector 8 where organizers combined fast food distribution with cash handouts. Following the fuel distribution drive, organizers indicated plans to expand the initiative to technology items, proposing a future “iPhone langar” to distribute smartphones free of cost to the public.
