Amritsar, 10 February 2025: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) dismissed Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh from his position at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib after accepting the inquiry committee’s report during an internal meeting.
SGPC Secretary Partap Singh noted that the decision was unanimous, with only three members registering their dissent.
Partap Singh mentioned that the investigation proved the allegations against Giani Harpreet Singh, and the committee acted to uphold the honor and dignity of Takht Sahib. The committee assigned Giani Jagtar Singh, the Head Granthi of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, to handle Jathedar duties alongside his current responsibilities.
The meeting also approved financial assistance of ₹2 lakh for the family of Satnam Singh, who passed away while serving at Gurdwara Sri Kandh Sahib Batala. Other matters related to gurdwaras, educational institutions, and the Trust Department were discussed.
SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, senior officials, and committee members attended the meeting.
