KANGRA, 19 February– Several antiques, including a pair of silver Khadau (slippers), have been stolen from the Maharaja Sansar Chandra Museum near Kangra Fort, police said.
The theft occurred late Sunday night, with intruders gaining entry by removing an exhaust fan at the museum’s rear.
According to a police inventory, the stolen items include 36 silver children’s toys, two antique revolvers, and a silver tray.
“We have prepared a list of stolen objects, registered an FIR, and secured CCTV footage,” said Kangra Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bir Bahadur.
“An investigation is underway, and initial findings suggest two individuals were involved, though we are exploring all possibilities.”
A team led by the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) has inspected the site. Authorities are analyzing footage and other evidence to track down the culprits.
The privately-run museum, established by the Katoch family, preserves the heritage of Kangra’s royal dynasty.
It showcases artifacts from the reign of Maharaja Sansar Chandra, whose rule is considered the region’s golden age.
