Chandigarh, March 6 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated the City Surveillance and Traffic Management System in Mohali, marking a major step towards technology-driven law enforcement.
The ₹21.60 crore project aims to improve urban surveillance, traffic regulation, and public safety through AI-powered monitoring and analytics.
Key Features of Phase 1:
351 high-resolution CCTV cameras installed at 17 strategic locations
Automated e-challan system linked with NIC’s VAHAN & SARATHI databases
5,000–6,000 challans expected daily for traffic violations
Camera Deployment:
175 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras
50 Red Light Violation Detection (RLVD) cameras
92 Bullet Cameras for general surveillance
18 PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras for enhanced monitoring
Speed Violation Detection at two key locations
Phase 2 Expansion:
The initiative will expand across the district, integrating AI-driven Adaptive Traffic Control Systems (ATCS), Smart Traffic Lights, and Vehicle Actuated Control (VAC) for optimized urban mobility.
