Chandigarh, April 29: A group of 15 Indian nationals, including 11 individuals from Punjab, are scheduled to reach Delhi late Wednesday night following their deportation from Australia. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann affirmed the development during a press interaction, stating that the group includes 10 young men and one woman from the state, alongside individuals from Telangana, Haryana, and Uttarakhand.

The Chief Minister asserted that the state government is prepared to receive the returnees and will facilitate their transition back to their home districts. He noted that preliminary reports suggest the deportations are linked to illegal activities or issues concerning documentation. He declared that once the group arrives, authorities will conduct a thorough inquiry to determine the exact circumstances that led to their removal and to identify any unregulated travel agents who may have facilitated their journey.

In his address, the Chief Minister maintained that these individuals are “our own children” and emphasized the state’s commitment to their rehabilitation. He stated that the government is working to gather complete information regarding their travel documents to prevent similar incidents in the future. He affirmed that the administration remains focused on curbing illegal immigration networks that often exploit vulnerable youth seeking opportunities abroad.

The Chief Minister also declared that the ultimate solution to such crises lies in domestic employment generation. He maintained that the Punjab government is actively increasing job opportunities within the state to ensure that youth do not feel compelled to risk uncertain pathways overseas. He asserted that providing stable livelihoods at home is the most effective way to protect the future of the state’s younger generation.
