Hoshiarpur, May 4: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed on Sunday that his administration remains dedicated to social welfare and religious sanctity, declaring that free electricity and financial aid for women will continue as long as the Aam Aadmi Party is in power. Speaking at a Lok Milni event in the Ghogra area of the Dasuya constituency, the Chief Minister stated that the state has successfully passed the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026. This legislation mandates life imprisonment for the desecration of the holy scripture, a move he noted should have been enacted by previous governments years ago.

The Chief Minister asserted that the primary difference between his government and his predecessors is the transparent use of the state exchequer. He maintained that public funds are now being returned to the citizens through improved infrastructure, schools, and hospitals rather than being diverted into the pockets of political leaders. Bhagwant Singh Mann noted that his life is an “open book” dedicated to the welfare of Punjabis, despite what he described as malicious propaganda from opposition parties.

“I have put my sweat and toil for ensuring unsurpassed development of the state,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated. He affirmed that unlike previous rulers who remained confined to “palatial palaces,” he prioritizes direct interaction with the masses to resolve their hardships with missionary zeal. The Chief Minister maintained that the current administration has provided free electricity to 90 percent of households and secured employment for over 65,000 youth without the influence of corruption.

The Chief Minister also directed strong criticism toward the Akali Dal and the Congress. He stated that the Akali leadership patronized the drug trade and is responsible for “bruising the psyche” of Punjabis through past instances of sacrilege. Regarding the Congress, he noted that the party is a “divided house” where leadership struggles take precedence over public service. He concluded by asserting that the “broom” has effectively transformed the health and education sectors, providing free medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh for 65 lakh families under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna.
