CHANDIGARH/BATHINDA, APRIL 27 — A premature newborn at Aggarwal Hospital in Rampura Phul has been discharged in stable condition following a critical 17-day battle for survival in the neonatal intensive care unit. The infant, born at just 33 weeks to Resham Singh and Gurmail Kaur, faced severe respiratory distress and a dangerously low birth weight of 1.926 kg before receiving treatment supported by the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana.

Medical professionals led by Dr. Surender Aggarwal moved the infant into specialized care immediately upon delivery. The treatment included 10 days of CPAP support and four days of supplemental oxygen to manage underdeveloped lung function. During the recovery period, the medical team also addressed neonatal jaundice through phototherapy and utilized controlled Kangaroo Mother Care to maintain the infant’s stability and warmth.

Dr. Aggarwal, a pediatrician with over two decades of experience, affirmed that the recovery process in such delicate cases is gradual. “In the NICU, progress does not come in leaps,” he stated. “It comes quietly, one stable reading at a time.” The physician also declared that the success of the intervention relied heavily on the speed of the medical response, noting that “even a small delay can change everything.”

The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana facilitated the infant’s care by providing a cashless treatment model, ensuring that the family did not face financial barriers during the emergency. By the time of discharge, the baby’s weight had increased to 2.106 kg.

The impact of the state health initiative is mirrored in other regions, including Hoshiarpur. Resident Maninder Singh affirmed that his daughter, Gurkeerat Kaur, received essential neonatal care this month through the same scheme. He stated that the registration for the Mukh Mantri Sehat Card was completed within a single day, providing his family with annual health coverage of up to ₹10 lakh.

“That is why the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana scheme matters,” Singh declared. He maintained that the program is vital for those who struggle with daily living costs yet require high-quality medical treatment for their children.
