New Delhi, 12 November 2024: Delhi’s weather has left residents perplexed this November, defying the usual onset of winter. Instead of the expected chill, the capital continues to grapple with unseasonal heat, humidity, and fog.
Temperatures have been recorded 2-5 degrees Celsius above the norm, delaying the arrival of the cold season.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) had earlier predicted a harsher winter for North India, particularly Delhi, influenced by “La Niña.” However, signs of cold weather are yet to be felt.
The Meteorological Department forecasts cloudy skies and a chance of light rain around November 15, which could help clear the smog blanketing the city.
If the rain materializes, it may also lead to an improvement in air quality, potentially ushering in the long-awaited cold weather.
For now, residents remain uncomfortable, dealing with lingering heat and high humidity levels as they wait for a seasonal shift.
