CHANDIGARH, APRIL 18 — The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) concluded its two-day national conference on Artificial Intelligence today, stressing a shift toward making students active creators of technology rather than passive users. Held at the CII Northern Region Headquarters, the event brought together global tech leaders and state policymakers to establish a responsible framework for AI in the classroom.
Chairman of PSEB, Dr. Amarpal Singh, stated that AI can be leveraged to enhance learners’ creativity and problem-solving skills. He noted that in the current digital age, students must make ethical choices regarding the tools they use, comparing the selection of AI applications to choosing reliable companions. He affirmed that using technology within a clear legal and ethical framework ensures that core educational values remain protected.
The final day featured intensive sessions from Google and Intel. While Google focused on sensitizing stakeholders to the transformative potential of AI, Intel conducted a practical workshop for over 112 participants on deploying AI tools within government structures. These sessions specifically addressed data privacy and the implementation of safeguards to prevent the inadvertent sharing of sensitive organizational information.
Educational leaders also participated in a specialized workshop conducted by IKG PTU, which focused on maintaining academic integrity. This session provided school heads with tools to identify AI-generated content and integrate technology into institutional management. Dr. Amarpal expressed appreciation for the smooth conduct of the event and maintained that the enthusiasm shown by Punjab’s students highlights a strong potential for AI-driven learning in the coming years.
