Chandigarh, June 10: Punjab is steadily establishing a fresh economic narrative based on business innovation, as the state government actively structures financial avenues to transform local concepts into functional commercial operations. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday distributed initial seed grants totaling ₹1.07 crore to 31 regional startups, affirming that the state’s upcoming generation of industry leaders must establish their operational bases directly within regional borders to foster local wealth and employment.

The state administration maintained that early-stage fiscal capital remains essential to prevent viable commercial concepts from failing due to initial funding shortages. Officials stated that these new corporate entities are projected to open thousands of employment avenues, offering domestic alternatives for local youth who might otherwise look for vocational opportunities abroad.

“Today is a historic day for Punjab’s industry, especially for our young entrepreneurs who are beginning their business journey with innovative ideas and a spirit of innovation,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated during the seed allocation event. “Seed Grants worth ₹1.07 crore are being distributed to 31 startups. Seven startups are receiving grants of ₹5 lakh each, while 24 startups are receiving grants of ₹3 lakh each.”

The Chief Minister noted that the newly implemented Punjab Startup & Industrial Policy 2026 deliberately raised the maximum threshold for early capital allowances from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh to buffer early operational vulnerabilities. He declared that institutional centers must actively transition beyond theoretical lessons to serve as foundational launchpads for technological, industrial, and agricultural solutions.

Drawing a parallel to regional political shifts, Mann stated that the current administration was similarly established on a novel concept during an era heavily dictated by legacy political groups. He maintained that previous governing systems completely overlooked commercial development programs, prioritizing personal interests over public enterprise.

“The purpose of Seed Money is to reduce the early burden on startups and give them confidence to build, test and scale their ideas,” Mann asserted. “Our goal is that the next generation of successful founders should not only come from Punjab but should also build their companies in Punjab. We will handhold you, listen to you, support you and resolve every difficulty you face.”

The state executive stated that Punjab’s foundational strengths in cultivation must be systematically linked to advanced food processing, artificial intelligence, and protective logistics. Mann remarked that global frameworks observed in international tech hubs like South Korea’s Pangyo Techno Valley and the Netherlands’ World Horti Center demonstrate how targeted regional infrastructure can successfully accelerate domestic companies onto global platforms.
