Chandigarh, April 21: The Punjab government is set to establish a Horticulture Experience and Learning Center designed to transform the state’s agricultural landscape through high-efficiency farming. Following a strategic visit to the Netherlands, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that the center will replicate the World Horti Center ecosystem to provide farmers with modern alternatives to traditional crops.
The initiative aims to integrate research, industry, and government stakeholders to promote sustainable solutions and skill development. During his visit to the World Horti Center in Westland, the Chief Minister studied advanced greenhouse technologies and controlled-environment agriculture that significantly improve crop yields while conserving water.
“The proposed center would bring together researchers, academic institutions, industry partners, and government stakeholders to promote innovation, skill development, and the adoption of sustainable agricultural solutions in the state,” the Chief Minister affirmed.
The Chief Minister also visited Keukenhof to observe global best practices in floriculture and agri-tourism. He noted that the integration of automation, artificial intelligence, and precision irrigation could assist Punjab in moving away from water-intensive crops. Both sides have agreed in principle to pursue technology partnerships and knowledge transfer to support this transition.
