Punjab Vigilance Bureau Arrests Contractor for Bribery

Chandigarh, December 25, 2024: Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Amritpal, alias Kaddu, a resident of Maur in Bathinda district, for allegedly demanding bribes from employees at the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) office in Maur.

The accused reportedly accepted Rs 35,000 and sought an additional Rs 20,000 in connection with a tubewell connection installation.

A spokesperson for the Vigilance Bureau stated that the arrest followed an online complaint by Bhola Singh, a resident of Ubha village in Mansa district.

Investigations revealed that the accused posed as an authorized contractor of PSPCL and took bribes from PSPCL employees for facilitating the connection.

The Bureau registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act at its Range Bathinda police station. The accused is set to be presented in court tomorrow.
