Dubai, 29 January 2025: Geoff Allardyce has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Cricket Council (ICC), ending a four-year tenure at the helm.
His resignation comes just months before the ICC Champions Trophy.
Allardyce, who took over the role in November 2021 after serving as interim CEO for eight months, cited a desire for new challenges as the reason for his departure.
“I believe this is the right time for me to step down and pursue new challenges,” he added
He has been associated with the ICC since 2012, previously serving as the General Manager of Cricket. Before that, he worked with Cricket Australia.
Reflecting on his tenure, Allardyce said, “It has been an honor to serve as ICC CEO. I am proud of the progress we have made, whether in expanding cricket’s global footprint or enhancing financial benefits for ICC members.”
ICC President Jay Shah acknowledged Allardyce’s contributions, stating, “On behalf of the ICC Board, I extend my gratitude to Geoff for his dedication. He has played a significant role in globalizing the sport, and we wish him the best for the future.”
With the ICC Champions Trophy approaching, the governing body is expected to announce a replacement soon.
