Amritsar, 13 November 2024: Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib has reportedly given up his Z-security cover, sources revealed.
The decision comes after a prolonged period during which the Jathedar had been sending letters requesting the return of the high-level security detail.
Previously, the Punjab government had withdrawn his security, but the central government intervened and assigned Z-security in response.
This high-level protection typically includes a team of 15 to 20 personnel, tasked with ensuring the safety of the Jathedar of the fourth Takht of Sikhism, Sri Damdama Sahib.
