Mumbai, Lucknow, 03 November, 2024: Mumbai police arrested a 24-year-old woman for allegedly issuing a death threat to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, officials announced Sunday.

The woman, identified as Fatima Khan, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and lives with her family in Ulhasnagar, a town in Thane district, Maharashtra. Her father is involved in the timber business, according to authorities. Despite her qualifications, police noted she has shown signs of mental instability.

The threat emerged Saturday when a message was sent to the Mumbai traffic police’s WhatsApp number from an unknown contact. The message warned that if Adityanath did not resign as Chief Minister within ten days, he would be “killed like NCP leader Baba Siddique,” officials reported.

Investigators soon traced the threat to Khan, leading to her arrest in a joint operation by the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Ulhasnagar police. “Further investigation is underway,” an official stated.

The threat comes as Adityanath is expected to visit Maharashtra to campaign ahead of the state assembly polls on November 20.

The reference to NCP leader Baba Siddique’s death adds gravity to the incident. Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead in Bandra on October 12.
