Jodhpur, Rajasthan, 31st October 2024— Authorities discovered the dismembered body of a 50-year-old woman in Jodhpur on Wednesday, two days after her family reported her missing, police confirmed. The woman, identified as Anita Chaudhary, reportedly fell victim to an old family friend.
Ms. Chaudhary, who operated a beauty salon in Jodhpur, closed her establishment around 2:30 p.m. on October 27 but did not return home that evening.
Concerned for her safety, her husband, Manmohan Chaudhary, 56, lodged a missing person report the following day.
Investigators tracked Ms. Chaudhary’s mobile phone location and reviewed call records, which led them to the home of a man named Gul Mohammad, a trusted family friend whom Ms. Chaudhary regarded as a brother, according to police sources.
Upon questioning Mohammad’s wife, authorities uncovered disturbing information. “She revealed that Ms. Chaudhary’s body had been buried behind their residence,” a police official stated.
Officers later uncovered the body, dismembered into six pieces, and sent the remains to AIIMS hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The whereabouts of Mohammad remain unknown, as police have launched a manhunt to locate him. His wife has been detained for questioning as the investigation continues.
