10 Killed in Fire at Spanish Nursing Home

Madrid, 15 November 2024: A fire at the “Jardines de Villafranca” nursing home in Villafranca del Abro, northern Spain, left at least 10 people dead on Friday morning.

According to Aragon emergency services, the blaze erupted around 5 a.m., taking firefighters nearly two hours to extinguish.

The nursing home, housing 82 elderly residents, saw a swift response from emergency crews, including firefighters from Zaragoza, located 35 kilometers away.

While most of the injured are receiving treatment for smoke inhalation, one person’s condition remains critical.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, and an investigation is currently underway to assess the extent of the damage and identify potential safety lapses.
