AMRITSAR, June 4– In a series of anti-smuggling operations, Amritsar Rural Police have arrested nine individuals in three separate incidents, seizing 722 grams of heroin, over ₹2 lakh in cash, two pistols and eight live rounds.
The accused include Gurmeet Singh (Achintkot), Hardev Singh, Tajinder Singh (Neshta), Lovepreet Singh (Lakhna), Baljit Singh, Prabhdeep Singh, Sukhwant Singh (Manana), Sahildeep Singh (Chananake), and Sukhsagar Singh (Dairywal).
SSP Maninder Singh said the first arrest happened near Neshta border village, where three youths in a white Baleno were caught with heroin and ₹1 lakh drug money. In another case, four bikers with an erased number plate were nabbed with a .30 bore pistol, five bullets, and ₹1.3 lakh in cash. In Rajdhan village, two suspects were arrested with a .32 bore pistol and three live cartridges.
Cases under the NDPS Act and Arms Act have been registered as investigations continue.
