SONEPAT, June 28 — In a significant breakthrough, the Special Unit for Anti-Gangster (SUAG) from Sector-27 apprehended one of Haryana’s most-wanted gangsters, Ravi alias Lamba, following a brief encounter near the Barona bypass in Kharkhoda early Saturday morning.

Ravi, a resident of Barona village, sustained a bullet wound in his leg during the exchange of fire with police around 3 am. He was initially admitted to the Civil Hospital and later referred to Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women in Khanpur due to the nature of his injury.

Inspector Ajay Dhankar, in charge of SUAG, confirmed that a .32-bore pistol and a motorcycle were recovered from the accused. “Ravi was a notorious operative with links to Delhi’s infamous Rajesh Bawana gang. He was evading arrest in multiple criminal cases, including a recent murder,” Dhankar said.

Police records show that Ravi has at least 12 criminal cases registered against him. He was wanted for the killing of Brajesh, a resident of Barona village and brother of another known criminal, Ravi Munia. Authorities from both Haryana and Delhi had declared cash rewards for information leading to his capture — Rs 20,000 by Haryana Police and Rs 25,000 by Delhi Police.

Ravi’s arrest is considered a major success in ongoing operations targeting inter-state gang networks. The SUAG continues to investigate his gang affiliations and is expected to question him further once his medical condition stabilizes.
