Mumbai, November 1: An IndiGo flight from Jeddah to Hyderabad was diverted to Mumbai early Saturday after the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) received an email warning that a “human bomb” was onboard. The aircraft landed safely, and a thorough security check revealed no threat, police said.

The email, received around 5.30 am, warned airport authorities to “prevent landing of IndiGo (flight) in Hyderabad” and claimed that LTTE-ISI operatives onboard planned a “1984 Madras Airport modus operandi-style blast.” Following the alert, all relevant security agencies were informed, and the flight was immediately rerouted to Mumbai, officials said.

“After the aircraft landed in Mumbai, all necessary security checks were conducted, and nothing suspicious was found,” a senior police officer said. A case has been registered, and investigations are underway to trace the source of the email.

IndiGo confirmed the incident in a statement, saying, “A security threat was received for IndiGo flight 6E 68 operating from Jeddah to Hyderabad on November 1, and the aircraft was diverted to Mumbai.”

The airline added that it followed all established security protocols and cooperated with authorities during the checks. “We made all efforts to minimise inconvenience to our customers, offering refreshments and regular updates,” IndiGo said.
