Sri Anandpur Sahib, November 23, 2025 — With millions of devotees gathering at Sri Anandpur Sahib for the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the Punjab government has deployed a wide range of medical services and emergency systems, saying the arrangements are meant to guarantee continuous healthcare access for all pilgrims.

Officials said 24×7 emergency services have been activated across Ropar, Kiratpur Sahib and Sri Anandpur Sahib, supported by newly introduced critical care units in Ropar and Anandpur Sahib. The Health Department described the effort as an attempt to ensure that medical assistance is available without delay. “Our duty is to serve the Sangat,” a senior health official said, noting that the arrangements were designed to manage both routine cases and serious emergencies.

Alongside state hospitals, the government opened 19 additional Aam Aadmi Clinics around the gathering venues, taking the total to 40. All are operating round-the-clock, offering outpatient consultations and standard diagnostic services. According to Health Department records, 1,111 patients were examined as of November 22, while 99 lab tests were carried out free of cost.

The administration has also launched a dedicated campaign to support eye health under the ‘Nigah Langar’ initiative. As part of this drive, 522 individuals received eye check-ups and 390 were provided spectacles at no cost. A cataract procedure was completed at the District Hospital in Ropar for a patient identified during the screening. “This is where service truly begins,” an official involved in the program said.

Authorities have deployed 24 Basic Life Support ambulances and seven Advanced Life Support ambulances at key locations, along with a medical helpline. The state said the vehicles are positioned to respond immediately to emergencies within the large crowds. Blood donation camps are also planned in Anandpur Sahib over the next two days.

The government has made provisions for women and children by offering free sanitary pads, installing disposal machines and setting up baby feeding rooms at congregation sites. Officials say these services are intended to support basic dignity and hygiene needs during the multi-day gathering.

As pilgrims continue to arrive in large numbers, officials stressed that the health arrangements will remain operational. “We have a responsibility to ensure safety and care,” a spokesperson said, adding that the state intends to sustain the services through the commemorations.
