Chandigarh, March 9: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Monday that the second-largest Tata Group project in the country is scheduled for a March 20 launch in Punjab. Speaking during the ongoing Budget Session in the Vidhan Sabha, the Chief Minister stated that the initiative involves an investment of 3,200 crore and is expected to generate employment for at least 4,000 individuals.

The announcement came as the House discussed the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address. CM Mann asserted that the current administration is focused on delivering tangible results rather than making empty manifesto promises. He noted that the government has successfully provided daytime power to farmers and expanded the reach of Aam Aadmi Clinics, which he affirmed have recorded over five crore visits to date.

“Our government is driving on the path of progress,” the Chief Minister stated. “Colours of progress have started showing but we will shine brighter soon in the times to come.”

Finance Minister Harpal Cheema supported these claims by noting the creation of 63,000 jobs for Punjabi youth, citing a significant increase in ITI seats as verification. However, the session was marked by sharp exchanges as Opposition leaders questioned the government’s performance.

Leader of Opposition Pratap Bajwa expressed disagreement with several budget proposals, specifically mentioning the delay in the promised 1,000 monthly allowance for women. Additionally, MLA Manpreet Ayali raised concerns regarding the release of “Bandi Sikhs” and criticized the government’s handling of sacrilege cases, asserting that strict action remains pending despite past assurances.
