Ahmadabad, April 29: Two separate road accidents in Gujarat on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of 14 individuals and left 48 others injured. The incidents, occurring in the Sabarkantha and Valsad districts, prompted immediate emergency responses and a message of condolence from the Prime Minister’s Office.
In Sabarkantha, a collision between a private luxury bus and an Eco car on the Ahmedabad-Udaipur National Highway left six people dead and eight injured. Deputy Superintendent of Police AK Patel stated that the accident occurred near Himmatnagar when the bus struck the car from behind. Preliminary findings suggest the car was attempting to navigate an unauthorized turn at the time of impact. Resident Medical Officer K.B. Verma affirmed that the injured were transported to civil hospitals in Gambhoi and Himmatnagar, with two individuals currently undergoing treatment for serious injuries.
A second tragedy occurred in the Kaprada area of Valsad district when a pickup vehicle carrying passengers to a social event overturned. Superintendent of Police Yuvraj Singh J. Jadeja declared that eight people, including three children and three women, lost their lives in the crash. He noted that over 40 other passengers sustained injuries during the afternoon accident.
The Prime Minister’s Office maintained in a public statement that the loss of life in Valsad is tragic and expressed sympathies for the bereaved families. Authorities affirmed that investigations into the specific causes of both accidents are currently underway to determine if driver negligence or mechanical failure played a role.
