Chennai, May 12 — An Etihad Airways flight destined for Abu Dhabi was forced to abort its departure on Tuesday after a fire ignited on its left wing during taxiing. Airport officials stated that approximately 280 passengers were on board the aircraft when the blaze was detected, leading to an immediate cancellation of the flight.
The cockpit crew reportedly noticed the flames while the aircraft was preparing for takeoff. Pilots immediately halted the maneuver and alerted emergency ground crews. Officials noted that all passengers and crew members were successfully disembarked from the plane without any reported injuries.
“The fire was immediately put out by Fire Service personnel,” an airport spokesperson stated regarding the rapid response. Following the containment of the fire, the aircraft was moved to a secure area for inspection.
