LEHRAGAGA, JUNE 1 — The state government launched a series of infrastructure upgrades valued at more than ₹18.76 crore on Sunday, initiating a comprehensive plan to improve rural connectivity and safety across the Lehragaga, Dirba, and Baghrol territories.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema dedicated the projects and laid multiple foundation stones during a public ceremony, stating that the administration is systematically modernizing about 40,000 kilometers of the rural road grid. Cheema noted that the initiative targets basic transit networks that suffered from severe neglect under previous leadership for multiple generations.

“The Bhagwant Mann Government is prioritising rural development to bridge the gap between urban and rural infrastructure,” Cheema declared. He maintained that providing high-quality basic facilities to remote rural populations remains an absolute baseline requirement for balanced state growth.

At a localized assembly in Daska village, the Finance Minister dedicated a key 10.5-kilometer thoroughfare connecting Bachhuana to Bareta through Daska and Bahadurpur. The road section was expanded from a narrow 12-foot lane to an 18-foot clear path, costing ₹7.15 crore, which officials stated will resolve ongoing traffic gridlock and localized accident risks.

Cheema also unveiled a newly constructed four-kilometer metalled strip connecting Daska to Khatri Wala, a project valued at ₹1.27 crore that converts a historic dirt trail into a reliable all-weather connection. Additionally, a short link road heading to Dera Baba Dhaula Pir was finalized for ₹34.50 lakh to assist regional pilgrims.

The connectivity push extended significantly into the Baghrol zone, where Cheema finalized development works and laid structural markers for operations valued at nearly ₹10 crore. Standing alongside village sarpanches and local panchayat administrators, he announced a new three-kilometer project linking Baghrol to Bujrak for ₹1.10 crore, as well as a 2.35-kilometer route heading to Burj Tilla and Kheri Nagaiyan costing over ₹1 crore.

State records show that another ₹1.16 crore was used to pave a 2.75-kilometer link between Baghrol and Ballamgarh. A key element of the local mobilization includes paving 12 kilometers of unpaved tracks that had remained untouched for up to 80 years, a transformation requiring a ₹5.25 crore investment.

Cheema concluded the regional rollout by dedicating a newly engineered bridge designed to facilitate movement between two major farming communities. He noted that multiple ongoing widening projects connecting Baghrol with Kangrodi and Kamalpur are currently moving forward at an estimated cost of ₹4.50 crore to aid local agrarian trade.
