NEW DELHI, July 30 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level Cabinet Committee on Security meeting in Parliament to assess the evolving geopolitical environment in West Asia and examine its implications for India’s energy security. Attended by key cabinet members and senior officials, including National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, the strategic review focused on evaluating import routes for crude oil, petroleum products, and liquefied natural gas.
Senior leadership, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, presented detailed inputs on current supply chains.
“The overall supply situation in the country was reviewed in detail, and the government confirmed that there is no shortage of LPG, diesel, or petrol, while adequate quantities of essential commodities remain secured,” stated official sources reviewing the outcome.
Officials affirmed that state-owned refineries continue to operate efficiently to maintain essential output while contingency measures are maintained across key shipping corridors. Authorities added that diplomatic and maritime channels remain closely aligned to ensure the safety of Indian personnel and seafarers operating across regional transit routes.
