New Dehi, 25 January 2025: A total of 942 personnel from Police, Fire Services, Home Guards, Civil Defence, and Correctional Services were recognized for their contributions on Republic Day 2025. The awards included 95 Gallantry Medals, 101 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service, and 746 Medals for Meritorious Service.
The Gallantry Medals accentuated bravery in challenging regions, with 28 personnel from Naxal-affected areas, 28 from Jammu and Kashmir, 3 from the North-East, and 36 from other areas being honored. Among them, 78 were police personnel, and 17 were from fire services.
The President’s Medals for Distinguished Service were awarded to 85 police officers, 5 fire service personnel, 7 individuals from Civil Defence-Home Guards, and 4 from Correctional Services. Meanwhile, the Medals for Meritorious Service saw 634 awarded to the Police Service, 37 to Fire Services, 39 to Civil Defence-Home Guards, and 36 to the Correctional Department.
State-wise, the Gallantry Medals were distributed as follows: 11 recipients from Chhattisgarh, 6 from Odisha, 17 from Uttar Pradesh, and 15 from Jammu and Kashmir. Central paramilitary forces also featured prominently, with 19 awards for CRPF personnel, 5 for BSF, 4 for SSB, and one for an Assam Rifles constable. Fire services recognition included 16 from Uttar Pradesh and one from Jammu and Kashmir.
Distinguished Service Medals spanned multiple states and organizations, including awards to Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan, along with central bodies like the NSG, Bureau of Police Research and Development, NDRF, and others.
Notably, 3 awards each went to Delhi Police, ITBP, and Uttar Pradesh Correctional Services, while IB received 8 awards for its contributions.
These honors recognized exceptional dedication, bravery, and service across India’s security forces and supporting agencies.
