Chandigarh, 26 November 2024 – The dengue outbreak in Haryana continues to escalate, with over 5300 cases reported across the state. More than 100 new cases are being recorded daily, making it a significant health concern. Panchkula district has emerged as the worst-affected area, leading the state in reported cases.
Panchkula Urban has recorded three fatalities this season, while one death each was reported from Kot and Pinjore villages. The district has also conducted over 13,000 dengue tests this season.
According to Mukta Kumar, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the District Civil Hospital in Sector 6, health department teams are conducting daily tests and awareness drives. “We have sufficient health facilities, but public awareness is crucial to prevent dengue,” Kumar said.
Urban Panchkula has reported the highest number of cases at 615, followed by Old Panchkula with 205 cases. Rural areas are also severely impacted, with 141 cases in Surajpur and 128 in Pinjore.
Despite ongoing efforts by the health department and district administration, the rising number of cases suggests that preventive measures have not yet yielded significant relief.
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant, eliminate standing water, and follow health advisories to combat the spread of the disease.
